Russell Hubley is an artist and musician (“two extremely dependable means of
incurring great amounts of debt”) living in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan.
He was born in 1973 in Garland, Texas, just outside of Dallas (“so glad that my
parents decided to leave Texas when I was two”) but has spent nearly 3
5 of his
3
9 years in the New York City area.

Russell displayed signs of musical talent from a very young age ("Rhinestone
Cowboy" was his first performance, at the age of two), and showed an ability to
pick up nearly any musical instrument and teach himself to play it by ear. He
discovered the Beatles when he was seven and never looked back. He currently
sings, writes, records and plays as both a solo performer and in several bands
of varying styles. He is currently the bass player and singer in the bands,
Bandsaw and Bender; he’s the drummer, guitarist and occasional writer in Phillip
Eno and its side project, Dogmaster. More recently he co-founded The B B
Batts (and promptly left),
and has begun collaboration with Bob Kuch, the
world's greatest (and only?) Mongolian/Puerto Rican guitarist
(which promises to
yield some interesting results)
...

Russell also finds time to write and record his own material. His 2006 release,
Cavern Music (available on iTunes), and 2007’s Refractor were both w
ell-
received
. He is currently working on a new project, Curse of Happiness, which
includes recordings that incorporate "annoying and intrusive recorded
conversations into otherwise untainted music."

As an artist inspired by the work of Andy Warhol, Adam Fuss and Tillamook
Cheddar, Russell
was the co-creator (with his recently-departed 16-year-old cat,
Fred) of Pee Art by Fred, where strategically
-placed canvas was utilized by Fred
when he felt so-inspired
, with Russell then adding different combinations of
spices such as cinnamon, turmeric, paprika or sage to the w
ork. The results,
some of which
were on exhibition in 2011 at the One Mile Gallery in Kingston,
New York, are "surprisingly pleasant to both the eyes and the nose."
